2026 Unclaimed Property Auction to Take Place this August: Missouri’s Largest Lost and Found

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek invites Missourian to attend the 2026 Unclaimed Property Auction taking place Thursday, August 27, through Friday, August 28 at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center in Columbia, MO.

The Auction takes place annually and features items from safe deposit boxes that have been turned over to the Treasurer’s Office as unclaimed property. By law financial institutions are required to turn over these items after 5 years of no contact with the owner. “The Unclaimed Property Auction gives Missourians a chance to discover unique items,” said Treasurer Malek. “Every year we’re proud to return unclaimed property to it’s rightful owners, and this auction gives us the opportunity to give these items a new home while still reserving the proceeds for the original owner to claim.”

In Fiscal Year 2026, the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office returned another record-breaking number of nearly $61 million in unclaimed property under Treasurer Malek’s leadership.
