Missouri’s 2018 Unclaimed Property Auction set for September 13-14 in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo — Missouri State Treasurer Eric Schmitt today announced the 2018 Unclaimed Property Auction will be held September 13 and 14 at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center in Columbia.
An auction preview will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12. The auction will begin at 9:00 a.m. on both Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14 with previews an hour before each day.
Thousands of items are up for auction including old coins and currency, stamps, jewelry and even autographed pictures of classic Hollywood actors Spencer Tracy and Bette Davis. A full list of auction items is available online at treasurer.mo.gov/Auction.
All auction items come from safe deposit boxes that have been turned over to the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office after five years of inactivity or no contact from the owner. All proceeds from the auction will be held until claimed by the rightful owners.
Last year, total auction earnings amounted over $335,000 for account owners.
Since taking office, Treasurer Schmitt has returned more than $75 million of Unclaimed Property representing over 300,000 accounts. Unclaimed Property can be searched for and claimed by visiting ShowMeMoney.com.
