Jefferson City, MO –Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick today announced Make the MOST of May with MOST 529, Missouri’s 529 Education Plan. Throughout the month of May, the first 1,600 Missourians who open a MOST 529 account for a beneficiary aged 0-5 and schedule recurring contributions will receive a $50 contribution from MOST 529 to their new account.

“As Treasurer, one of my most important jobs is helping Missourians prepare for their financial future,” Treasurer Fitzpatrick said. “Recurring contributions make saving easier—something most of us can benefit from. MOST 529 is a valuable program for Missourians preparing for education expenses from K-12 to higher education. Missouri’s tax benefits mean plan participants can save money on their taxes now while saving for the future. I hope Missourians will consider MOST 529 and get the MOST out of MOST 529 this May.”

MOST, Missouri’s 529 Education Plan, is a tax-advantaged savings plan for education expenses. Money in MOST accounts can be used to pay for K-12 tuition, and trade, college, and graduate school tuition and expenses. Contributions are eligible for a state tax deduction, which can save families up to $864 a year, and assets in MOST 529 accounts grow tax free.

Treasurer Fitzpatrick is committed to making MOST as cost effective and accessible as possible, making it one of the highest rated plans in the country. In 2021, the Treasurer announced the launch of READYSAVE™ 529, an education savings mobile application for MOST 529 account owners. In 2020, Treasurer Fitzpatrick announced changes to the MOST 529 Plan that will save Missourians millions of dollars in program management fees.
