PRESS RELEASE

Office of Missouri State Treasurer
Sarah Steelman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  --  June 3, 2005

State Treasurer Sarah Steelman’s

Weekly Office Performance Report

JEFFERSON CITY—Below is a weekly accounting of the activities and performance of the three divisions of the Missouri Treasurer’s Office.

Investment Division (05/26/05 through 06/02/05)

            Interest Earnings:                  $       1,664,458.75

Avg. Portfolio Book Value:  $      3,123,755,030.87

            Avg. Yield:    2.78 percent.

(note: There were several securities called, and because of the way the securities were amortized, this showed as “negative earnings” for at least one of these bonds. In addition, about 25 securities were transferred to a new MODOT pool yesterday, which also may have affected the amortization. This resulted in a one-week anomaly due to accounting issues. Our accrued earnings were above 2.9 percent for the week, and average book value compares favorably with last week’s $3,131,782,477.21.)

Unclaimed Property Division (05/26/05 through 06/02/05)

Amount Returned To Owners:      $ 172,971.02

            Number of Accounts Returned:      370
