Mo. treasurer seeks to bar business dealings between developers and housing agency officials

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - State Treasurer Clint Zweifel is calling for a new ethics policy at Missouri's housing agency that attempts to bar financial relationships between developers and agency officials.

Zweifel said Tuesday he also wants to require applicants for funding to disclose business relationships. And former commissioners and staff members would need to wait before working for firms that get money from the state agency.

Zweifel became the chairman of the Missouri Housing Development Commission last month. The agency uses tax credits and tax-free bonds to help finance affordable houses and apartments.

The agency's executive director recently told The Associated Press that he was interviewed by the FBI.
